Warsaw/Minsk. Poland Prime Minister Donald Tusk has said that his country will completely close its border with Belarus from midnight on Thursday.
Prior to a government meeting on Tuesday, Tusk said, “For national security reasons, we will close the border with Belarus, including railway crossings, on Thursday midnight to Friday.”
News agency Xinhua quoted the Polish Press Agency as saying that this closed would be applicable to all crossings, especially railway crossings.
According to the Belarusi Foreign Ministry, on Tuesday, Belarus has opposed the Poland’s decision taken during the Russia-Bellars military exercise Japad-2025.
The Belarusi side summoned the Ambassador in -charge of Poland Crizstoff Ozana in Minsk and lodged oral protest.
The Belarusian Ministry of External Affairs said that this unilateral step of Poland is expected to affect the entire European Union-Bellars border, which will disrupt the movement of people and goods.
This came after the announcement of US President Donald Trump in which he said that American soldiers will be stationed in Poland and his number could increase further.
Trump promised to “help Poland” in a meeting at the White House with the new Poland President Karol Navoki on 3 September.
When asked if he was asked to keep American soldiers in the country of front row in the eastern part of NATO, Trump said, “If he wants, we will deploy more soldiers there.”
Navaroki thanked Trump for his commitment to his continuous cooperation with the country. He said, “These relationships are very important for me, for Poland and for our citizens.”
According to a report by the Polish Press Agency, in early August, the US State Department approved the possible sales of a package related to the maintenance, logistics and support of F-35 fighter aircraft to Poland.
Citing the Pentagon’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), reports stated that the General Electric Aerospace would be responsible for the operation of the contract, which is an estimated cost of $ 1.85 billion.
The DSCA stated that the sale would support the United States’ foreign policy and national security objectives by increasing the security of NATO colleague, which remains a significant power for political and economic stability in Europe. “
