Music has its own language, which has to be learned. Only then you can enjoy it. It was to be said that Dr. Prabha Atre, who not only felt music, also lived for life.
Dr. Prabha Atre had so much attachment to music that a large number of spectators used to reach Indira Gandhi National Center for the National Arts to listen to him. He once said, “The practice of notes is going to disappear like a line drawn on the water.”
Dr. Prabha Atre was a famous singer of the grocery gharana. He was born on 13 September 1932 in Pune. He completed his graduation in law from ILS Law College, Pune.
However, he received a doctorate degree from the beginning due to being interested in music. During this, he took training in dance along with singing. To learn the nuances of music, he studied classical music from many music veterans including Suresbabu Mane. Dr. Prabha Atre once said that I used to hear him from my childhood days.
A specialty of the famous singer was that she did not forget to express gratitude to her gurus. He believed that whatever he is today, his gurus contribute.
To promote classical music, he established the Swarajayi Gurukul institution. He also worked in AIR for a few years. Apart from this, she also worked as a professor at SNDT Women’s University in Mumbai. Later she also became the head of the music department at the university.
He was also awarded several awards for his contribution to classical music. Atre was awarded Padma Shri (1990), Padma Bhushan (2002) and Padma Vibhushan in 2022. Apart from this, he was also given several other national and international awards. He also has a world record of releasing 11 books from one phase in his name.
With a melodious voice and control on the stage, he spread such a magic of the voice of the notes that there would hardly be any music lover who could forget them. His specialty was such that she used to easily reach the hearts of the audience easily. This talent included Prabha Atre among the best artists of her era.
