Hangzhou, 10 September (). The Indian women’s hockey team defeated Korea 4–2 in the match played at the Gongshu Canal Sports Park Stadium on Wednesday in the Hockey Asia Cup Super 4 match being played in Hangzhou, China. The Indian team is still invincible in the tournament.
The Indian team also defeated Korea strongly while retaining the strong performance of the league stage in Super 4. The first goal for India was scored by Vaishnavi Phalke. In the second minute of the match, he converted the penalty corner into a goal and gave India an edge. Vaishnavi injected the ball, after which Udita’s shot was saved by the Korean goalkeeper. Vaishnavi herself was standing near the goal post and he rebound converted the ball into a goal.
By half-time, the Indian team’s lead was 1-0. The 32nd minute Indian team scored the second goal. Rutuja Dadaso Pisal achieved the ball inside the circle and passed it to Sangeeta Kumari, who easily scored a goal. After less than a minute, Kim Yuzin of Korea scored through a penalty corner. This was the first goal from Korea.
The third goal for India was scored by Lalremasiami. He removed the pass from Udita inside the circle from close to the Korean goalkeeper. The Korean goalkeeper could not stop this fast shot. Last year’s runner -up Korea kept pressure on Indians when Yuzin once again scored his second goal through a penalty corner in the 53rd minute. Rutuja scored the fourth and decisive goals for India in the last minute. Rutuja turned the penalty corner into a goal and stamped India’s victory. India’s next match will be with China on Thursday.
