New Delhi, May 25 (IANS). 26 May is recorded as an important date in the history of Indian democracy. On this day in 2014, Narendra Modi started a new era in national politics by taking oath as the 15th Prime Minister of the country.

He took the oath of Prime Minister and secrecy in a grand ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. This was not only an occasion for change of power, but was also seen as a sign of a new direction in the country’s politics and governance.

Bharatiya Janata Party got a historic majority in the Lok Sabha elections 2014. After a long time, one party getting absolute majority raised hopes of political stability in the country. India attempted to strengthen its presence on global platforms and gave a new direction to relations with many countries. The government also stressed on rapid work in the fields of infrastructure, railways, roads and technology.
