AAP accuses Delhi government of demolishing houses of poor in Shalimar Bagh

New Delhi, January 16 (IANS). Political turmoil has once again intensified in Delhi politics. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has lodged a strong protest against Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and her government, accusing them of demolishing the houses of the poor in Shalimar Bagh assembly constituency.

AAP’s Delhi state convenor Saurabh Bhardwaj and Burari MLA Sanjeev Jha reached Shalimar Bagh and met the affected families and assured them that the party stands with them and will not allow injustice to happen under any circumstances. Making a scathing attack on the Chief Minister, Saurabh Bhardwaj said that after becoming the Chief Minister, orders are being given to demolish the houses of those poor families whose feet were sought for votes during the elections.

He alleged that the residents of Shalimar Bagh say that the Chief Minister’s husband is acting arbitrarily and people are being threatened that their houses will be demolished at any cost. Bhardwaj said that when the temperature in Delhi has dropped to 2.5 degrees Celsius and it is extremely cold, it is inhuman to make people homeless. He raised the question that where should the homeless people go in this cold winter.

MLA Sanjeev Jha said that this ongoing action in Shalimar Bagh is a blatant injustice to the poor and hardworking families. He said that power is not permanent, but public trust is the greatest. Delhi has seen the power of one vote before, when Arvind Kejriwal’s government transformed the lives of people through basic amenities like roads, schools and mohalla clinics. But today the result of changing votes is coming in the form of notices and bulldozers.

Sanjeev Jha warned that Aam Aadmi Party will fight against this injustice till its last breath. He assured that this issue will be raised within the Assembly as well and if necessary, there will be agitation on the streets. He said that it was time to seek the blessings of these mothers and sisters, but the government is busy demolishing their homes.

AAP leaders said that the trust with which the people had elected the government is being broken. The party bluntly said that injustice to the poor families of Shalimar Bagh will not be tolerated and Aam Aadmi Party will become their voice on every platform.
