Abhishek Banerjee was furious at Khawaja Asif's statement, said- 'We will answer by entering his house...'

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee on Monday (April 6, 2026) responded to the threat of attack on Kolkata by Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Asif. He announced that when Mamata Banerjee and INDIA alliance come to power, they will enter the houses of their opponents and eliminate them. Addressing an election rally in Siliguri, the TMC general secretary referred to the comments of Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Asif. Khawaja Asif had said that Kolkata could also be targeted in any future conflict between India and Pakistan.

The day the government is formed, we will enter their houses and kill them: Abhishek Banerjee

Banerjee said, “Two days ago, Khawaja Asif had threatened to blow up Kolkata. Our Prime Minister, Home Minister and Defense Minister remained silent. I have included Khawaja Asif’s name in my list; the day Mamata Banerjee and INDIA form a coalition government, we will enter their houses and kill them.” The TMC leader further said, “He is threatening attacks on Kolkata while sitting in Pakistan, while our Prime Minister Narendra Modi is busy campaigning in Cooch Behar and appealing to the people to remove TMC from power.”

TMC attacked Amit Shah

He also targeted Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh for not responding to Asif’s threat. Abhishek Banerjee said, “Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh remain silent. Shah calls us ‘Bangladeshis’ and ‘Pakistanis’ every day, yet when Pakistan threatens Kolkata, they become silent spectators.”

Khwaja Asif had threatened to attack Kolkata

Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif had claimed that any future conflict with India will not be limited to the border areas only. Speaking to reporters in Sialkot, Khawaja Asif said, “If India tries to carry out any ‘false-flag operation’ (mock attack), Pakistan will take the conflict to Kolkata.”

Rajnath Singh had warned Pakistan

India has not issued any official response to these threats made by Khawaja Asif; However, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had recently said that any adventurist action by Pakistan would be responded to. Referring to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in April 2025, the Defense Minister stressed that India’s response has made its stand clear and any future provocation will be given a strong response.

Abhishek Banerjee’s comments come amid heightened political activity in West Bengal, where TMC has repeatedly targeted the central government over its handling of national security issues, while BJP has earlier accused the party of using offensive language in its election campaign. It is worth noting that voting for the 294-member West Bengal Assembly is scheduled to be held in two phases—on April 23 and April 29, and the counting of votes will take place on May 4.
