Ranchi, January 14 (IANS). Aditya Sahu has been elected the new president of Jharkhand state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). On Wednesday, the party’s Central Election Officer and Union Minister Jual Oram formally announced his election.
Sahu had filed nomination papers before election officer Jual Oram at the state BJP office on Tuesday. His election was unopposed as no other candidate was nominated for the post.
Aditya Sahu was earlier holding the responsibility of the working president of Jharkhand State BJP and is currently also a Rajya Sabha MP from Jharkhand. On the occasion of announcement of his election, Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Pradeep Verma, former Union Minister Arjun Munda, former Chief Minister Madhu Koda, MP BD Ram and many senior BJP leaders and workers were present.
On this occasion, Election Officer Jual Oram also announced the election of 21 members from the state of Jharkhand to the National Council of the party. These include Kadia Munda, Arjun Munda, Sameer Oraon, Yadunath Pandey, Champai Soren, Sanjay Seth, Raghuvar Das, Dineshanand Goswami, Madhu Koda, Pashupati Nath Singh, Ravindra Kumar Rai, Amar Kumar Bauri, Neelkanth Singh Munda, Bhanu Pratap Shahi, Jitu Charan Ram, Abhaykant Prasad, Pradeep Verma, Anant Ojha, Deepak Prakash, Annapurna Devi and Geeta Koda.
The party had appointed Union Minister and senior leader Jual Oram as the Central Election Officer for the election of the state president. Aditya Sahu, who has been associated with BJP for more than two decades, has long experience in organizational politics. In the past, he has held many important positions in Jharkhand State BJP including Vice President and General Secretary. 61 year old Aditya Sahu has also been associated with the field of education. He was working as a lecturer in Ram Tahal Choudhary College till the year 2019.
He was elected to Rajya Sabha from Jharkhand in July 2022. His appointment is being considered important from the point of view of social and political equations. He comes from the Vaishya community, a community in which the BJP traditionally has a strong hold.
