After the defeat in Bengal, Mamata Banerjee has now suffered a big setback in Delhi too. TMC Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Shekhar Roy has resigned from his parliamentary seat. He said that he has resigned not only from the post of MP but also from the party. Roy had alleged that he was sidelined in the party after raising his voice against corruption.
Sukhendu Shekhar Roy, Rajya Sabha Chairman (Vice-President) C.P. Went to Radhakrishnan’s residence and submitted his resignation. Commenting on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) meeting, he said that this alliance has no future. He cited corruption in Trinamool Congress as the reason for his resignation.
What did Sukhendu Roy say on TMC’s defeat in Bengal?
Roy said, “My demand is that the government should conduct a forensic audit of the corruption that took place in every city of Bengal in the last five years.” On TMC’s defeat in Bengal, he said that there was definitely anger over the RG Kar incident, but there were many other issues too which fueled public anger – this anger came out after the RG Kar case.
News of Koel Malik’s resignation also came to light.
There were reports that two TMC MPs may resign from Rajya Sabha, including the name of Sukhendu Shekhar. Apart from him, the name of Koel Malik also came up – whom TMC had sent to Rajya Sabha in April this year. However, there is no news of Koel Malik’s resignation yet.
