New Delhi, May 26 (IANS). Congress has announced the appointment of leader and deputy leader of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in Assam Assembly.
Party General Secretary K. According to the press release issued by C. Venugopal, the Congress President has approved these appointments with immediate effect.
The party has appointed senior leader Wajed Ali Choudhary as the leader of the Congress Legislative Party in the Assam Assembly. Joy Prakash Das has been made the deputy leader of the legislature party.
Wajed Ali Chaudhary is considered a senior and influential leader of Congress in Assam politics. Apart from being active in social work and politics for a long time, he is also an established businessman by profession. Considering his experience within the party organization and assembly, Congress has entrusted him with a big responsibility.
Whereas, Dr. Joy Prakash Das is Congress MLA from Navboicha (SC) assembly constituency of Assam. He also has a strong background in the field of education. He has obtained a PhD degree from Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat. The party leadership hopes that his experience and educational background will help strengthen the organization.
These appointments have been made by the Congress at a time when the party is trying to strengthen its organization and political hold in Assam. Through the new leadership, Congress appears to be preparing to make the role of the opposition within the Assembly more effective.
