This story is around 1978, when Indian politics was caught by a shameful sex scandal, which shattered Babu Jagjivan Ram’s dream of becoming Prime Minister. The main character of this development was Babu Jagjivan Ram’s son Suresh Ram, in whose name a disputed sex scandal emerged. This dispute was not only to harm his political image, but it also gave birth to some important turns in Indian politics.

The story begins in August 1978, when Suresh Ram lodged a complaint of kidnapping at Kashmiri Gate Police Station in Delhi. He told that on August 20, he was traveling with his friend Sushma in his Mercedes car. On the way, two taxis stopped the path of his car and about 10 armed men kidnapped him. Suresh told the police that he was locked in a school building in Loni village. One of these kidnappers revealed his identity as Ompal Singh and made three strange demands from Suresh to write a letter, to accuse Sushma and signed some papers. When Suresh rejected these demands, he was brutally beaten and then claimed that objectionable pictures of Suresh and Sushma were taken. Both of them were finally left at around three o’clock in the night.

This incident was not only related to Suresh Ram’s personal life, but was bringing a stir in Indian politics. Due to the photographs that were cited, Babu Jagjivan Ram’s political image was in danger. These pictures were associated with his son Suresh’s sex scandal, and if these pictures had become public, it could end his dream of becoming Prime Minister. Babu Jagjivan Ram created difficulties due to the arrival of these pictures in the media.

Some different theory also came out about these pictures. According to one, the kidnappers took pictures during kidnapping, while the second, these photos were taken away during an accident. According to the third theory, these pictures were taken by Raj Narayan, when Suresh Ram took out a cigarette packet and the photos fell down.

Babu Jagjivan Ram’s dream of becoming Prime Minister was in danger after these pictures were revealed. Babu Jagjivan Ram, who was a prominent member of the Janata Party, was the main contender to become Prime Minister in the 1977 election. However, Morarji Desai was made Prime Minister. But this scandal was to completely influence his political career.

When Raj Narayan came to know about these pictures, he secretly took him to Sanjay Gandhi through Kapil Mohan. All this was part of a conspiracy so that Babu Jagjivan Ram could be prevented from becoming Prime Minister. Meanwhile, Babu Jagjivan Ram contacted Raj Narayan to get these pictures back and offered to hand over them at any cost, whether money or ministerial post. However, Raj Narayan turned down these proposals, and the situation went from bad to worse.

Meanwhile, the police raided the case and arrested Ompal Singh and KC Tyagi. After the news of these pictures spread in the media, the matter came into the limelight all over the world. The report of the incident was published in prominent newspapers like Bharatiya Express, in which Suresh Ram was introduced to the sex racket.

Sur magazine also had a big hand in this whole matter. The magazine, whose mistress was Maneka Gandhi, published nude pictures of Suresh and Sushma, which was not published by any other media house. Sur magazine did not show it as just a sex scandal, but also described it as a case of honey trap. The magazine alleged that Suresh Ram had leaked Defense Secrets and Babu Jagjivan Ram was bribed.

The scandal became part of vengeance between Indira Gandhi and her political rival Babu Jagjivan Ram. Indira Gandhi used the incident to prevent Babu Jagjivan Ram from becoming Prime Minister, and the entire conspiracy went in favor of Chaudhary Charan Singh. After this, when Morarji Desai resigned, Indira Gandhi’s Congress supported Chaudhary Charan Singh to make the Prime Minister. Babu Jagjivan Ram had a majority in Parliament, but President M Sanjiva Reddy did not give him an opportunity to form the government, and announced elections.

After this incident, Suresh Ram married Sushma, but later died of a heart attack. Babu Jagjivan Ram, whose dream of becoming Prime Minister was broken due to this controversy, left this world in 1986.
