Kolkata, May 10 (IANS). A day after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dilip Ghosh took oath as a minister in the new government in West Bengal, his mother and sister on Sunday appealed to the state government for justice in the RG Kar rape case.
Speaking to news agency IANS at her residence in Kharagpur, Dilip Ghosh’s sister Subhashini Paria said, “I hope that my brother will take care of the state, especially the Jungle Mahal area. I also appeal to the new government of West Bengal to get justice for ‘Abhaya’.”
In 2024, a trainee doctor was murdered at the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Often known as ‘Abhaya’ in West Bengal.
Dilip Ghosh’s mother Pushpalata Ghosh expressed happiness over her son joining the first BJP cabinet in the state.
She said, “His son is very hard-working. He will definitely work to fulfill the promises made to the public. I would urge the son to take care of the state and work to get justice for Abhaya and her family.”
Pushpalata Ghosh also urged the newly elected government of West Bengal to fulfill its promise of providing safety and security to women. “Women in the state need security,” she stressed.
At the same time, Minister Dilip Ghosh was welcomed with flower garlands at his Kharagpur residence on Sunday.
Let us inform that BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari took oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal on Saturday. Along with him, five Dilip Ghosh, Agnimitra Paul, Ashok Kirtania, Nisith Pramanik and Khudiram Tudu also took oath as ministers.
