Bhojpuri actor and singer Pawan Singh met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ally and National Lok Morcha president Upendra Kushwaha on Tuesday. It is being seen as an attempt to remove the rift in the social alliance before the Bihar assembly elections.
Pawan Singh met Kushwaha at his residence. During this time he was accompanied by BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde and party secretary Rituraj Sinha. Tawde is the BJP’s organization in -charge in Bihar.
Pawan Singh played an important role in Kushwaha’s defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, when he contested as an independent from Karakat seat. This meeting was obviously held a purpose of pacifying Rajya Sabha member Kushwaha amid the possibility of Singh’s upcoming assembly elections.
Later, Tawde told reporters that Pawan Singh is with the BJP and will work actively for the NDA in the upcoming elections. Tawde said that Kushwaha has blessed him.
The popular Bhojpuri singer was first fielded by the BJP in 2024 from Asansol in West Bengal. However, after the party was later accused, he pressurized him to withdraw from the election ground that his music videos and songs shown vulgar women in a vulgar manner.
After the party refused to give him tickets from Bihar, Pawan Singh, who came from Rajput caste, contested from Karakat seat as an independent candidate. A section of upper castes, especially the Rajput, united in their support, caused resentment to the Kushwaha community of the region and the BJP -led NDA lost some seats.
