Bhopal, July 14 (IANS). Political rhetoric has intensified after the Supreme Court issued notice to the Central Government, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and Hindu parties on the petition of the Muslim side in the Bhojshala dispute case located in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. The Supreme Court has currently allowed the worship to continue and has directed to arrange a separate open space for Friday prayers. Reacting to this decision, Congress spokesperson Awaaz Hafeez and Congress MLA Mukesh Nayak targeted the BJP government. Both the leaders said that instead of controversies, attention should be paid to the real issues of the people.
Congress spokesperson Awaaz Hafeez, while talking to IANS, said that the entire Bhojshala controversy is the result of the policies of the BJP government of Madhya Pradesh. By applying pressure, the state government got the lower courts to take such decisions which affected the rights of a section of the society. Instructions will also be given regarding maintaining the status during further hearing in the Supreme Court. At present his biggest concern is that the rights of any community should not be violated. Questioning the intentions of the state government, he said that it should be clear what the government wants. The government has no solid basis to show its achievements and wants to divert people’s attention from inflation, unemployment and other public concerns towards Hindu-Muslim disputes.
He said that it is the constitutional responsibility of the government to maintain social harmony in the state. If any kind of tension arises between two communities of the society, then the responsibility for it will be on the government only. The government should take such steps which will maintain peace and brotherhood in the state and not encourage disputes.
At the same time, Congress MLA Mukesh Nayak also welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court. Speaking to IANS, he said that the sooner religious and historical disputes end in the country, the more it will be in the interest of the country. He alleged that BJP is continuously diverting the public’s attention from the core problems by making such controversies a political issue. Today the country is facing serious issues like unemployment, poverty, education, health and infrastructure, but the government is not paying attention to these subjects. The government should make real issues related to the lives of common people, and not religious controversies, the center of its political discussion.
He further said that India is a country of diversity, where all religions and faiths should be respected. Bhajan-kirtan and langar should continue in Gurudwaras, namaz should continue in mosques, worship should continue in temples and prayers should continue in churches. This country is a country of very rich diversity. Disputes are not meant to increase, they are meant to end disputes. I think everyone should accept the decision of the Supreme Court.
