Bihar Elections: Tough fight between RJD, HAM and Jansuraj in Attri, 12 candidates in the fray

Patna, October 26 (IANS). Atari assembly seat comes under Jehanabad Lok Sabha constituency of Bihar. This assembly seat is reserved for Scheduled Caste. Gehlaur, the native village of Dashrath Manjhi, famous as ‘Mountain Man’, is also located in Atari assembly constituency.

The famous religious place of Atri assembly constituency is Tapovan. It is said that here the seven sons of Lord Brahma, the Saptarishis (Atri, Bhrigu, Kutsa, Vashishtha, Gautam, Kashyap and Angiras), performed penance. For this reason it came to be called ‘Tapovan’. This site is rich in religious importance as well as from environmental point of view. There are many opportunities here for nature lovers and photography lovers.

Tapovan is known for its hot springs, caves and temples. There are also old ashrams in the area, which make it mysterious and attractive. Ghat and Sun Temple are the major tourist places in Teusa area of ​​Atari assembly.

17 assembly elections have been held in Attri since it came into existence in 1951. Congress has won 6 times, with the party last winning in 1990. RJD won 5 times. Independent candidates won twice. Bharatiya Jan Sangh (now BJP), Janata Party, Janata Dal and JDU won 1 time each.

Currently RJD is in a strong position in the region and won the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections. In the 2020 elections, Ajay Yadav (RJD) defeated JDU’s Manorama Devi by a huge vote.

Caste equations play an important role on Atari seat. The largest population here is of Scheduled Caste and Muslim voters also have an impact on the election results.

Voting will be held in the second phase on Atari seat in Bihar Assembly elections. A total of 12 candidates are in the fray. Prominent candidates include RJD’s Vyjayanti Devi, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Hum)’s Romit Kumar and Jansuraj’s Shailendra Kumar.
