Patna, May 23 (IANS). These days, the political controversy regarding ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ which is being discussed on social media in Bihar has intensified. Bihar Government Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Dilip Jaiswal has launched a scathing attack on this online campaign. Describing the people associated with this as directionless, he said that such people are not making any positive contribution to the society.
While talking to the media during the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay training campaign in Katihar, Dilip Jaiswal said that some unemployed youth are trying to mislead the country through such activities. He claimed that India’s democracy is so strong that it cannot be weakened by such trends or campaigns.
In his statement, the minister used controversial words and compared such people to ‘cockroaches’ and ‘rats’. He said that such people cannot harm Indian democracy. After his statement, debate has erupted in political circles and social media.
Actually, this online trend named ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ came into discussion after a hearing held in the Supreme Court on May 15. During the hearing, Justice Surya Kant had remarked that some unemployed youth, who are not able to establish themselves professionally, spread everywhere like cockroaches.
There was a lot of criticism regarding this comment later, after which Justice Surya Kant clarified that his words were misunderstood.
The next day, a social media user named Abhijeet Dipke shared a Google form for the so-called ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ on the X platform and appealed to people to register. Initially it started as an internet joke and satire, but gradually it became a big symbol of people’s anger and sarcasm on unemployment, politics and the system.
Meanwhile, Dilip Jaiswal also gave a statement demanding a strict ban on cow slaughter during Eid-ul-Azha in West Bengal. He said that cow has special religious importance in Sanatan Dharma and he is in favor of cow protection.
After these two statements of the Minister, a new debate has started at the political and social level.
