Agartala, March 4 (IANS). Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday said the overall development of the tribal (tribal) community is one of the main goals of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.
Addressing an organizational program at the headquarters of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) in Khumulwang, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that the BJP will sweep the upcoming Tribal Autonomous Body and Village Committees elections.
Saha said the BJP will form the government in the 30-member TTAADC, and claimed that people’s trust and confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the party has steadily increased.
Earlier in the day, a large procession led by the Chief Minister passed through different streets of Khumulwang, attended by a large number of party workers and supporters.
Referring to the upcoming TTAADC elections, Saha said a big rally named ‘Tribe Empowerment and Tripura Empowerment’ was organized in Khumulwang to garner support.
He said that since assuming office in 2014, Prime Minister Modi has given priority to the development of tribal communities across the country. He said, “Even in the days to come, only the Bharatiya Janata Party can ensure real development of the tribal people. We are ready to work wholeheartedly for their welfare.”
The Chief Minister further said that if the current situation in TTAADC has to change, then BJP should get full support of the people. Alleging that the tribal community has seen ‘hollow promises’ for a long time, he claimed that the BJP is now making concrete developments on the ground. Expressing hope, Saha said the party would secure a firm mandate in the upcoming TTAADC and village committee elections and form the government in the tribal autonomous body, which he described as an essential constitutional body.
