Patna, May 15 (IANS). Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has nominated Chief Whip, Deputy Chief Whip and Whip to conduct parliamentary business of Bihar Assembly. BJP MLA from Digha Sanjeev Chaurasia has been appointed the chief whip of the ruling party in the assembly. Before this, Vinod Narayan Jha was on this post. Barauli MLA Manjeet Kumar Singh, close to Nitish Kumar, has been made Deputy Chief Whip.
Parihar MLA Gayatri Devi, Govindganj MLA Raju Tiwari, Pipra MLA Ramvilas Kamat, Harlakhi MLA Sudhanshu Shekhar, Madhuban MLA Rana Randhir, Benipur MLA Vinay Kumar Chaudhary, Banmankhi Krishna Kumar Rishi, Masodhi Arun Manjhi and Patna Sahib MLA Ratnesh Kumar have been made whips. JDU’s Ram Vilas Kamat and Vinay Kumar Chaudhary have been made whips for the first time.
Sanjeev Chaurasia, who was made the Chief Whip in Bihar Assembly, is a big leader of BJP and comes from the extremely backward class. His father Ganga Prasad Chaurasia was the Governor of Sikkim. Sanjeev comes from a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) background and has also been associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad during his student days. Sanjeev Chaurasia is a three-time MLA from Digha in Patna. It has made an important contribution in strengthening the organization of BJP in Bihar.
Sanjeev Chaurasia has expressed gratitude to the top leaders for being made the Chief Whip. He wrote on Twitter, “Heartfelt gratitude to National President Nitin Naveen, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, State President Sanjay Saraogi and the central leadership for getting the new responsibility as Chief Whip in Bihar Assembly. Also, congratulations to the newly appointed Deputy Chief Whip and Whips.”
The decision to nominate Whips, Deputy Whips and Whips has been taken keeping in mind the upcoming legislative business and the strategy of the House. The post of Whip is considered the backbone of a democratic system, ensuring that party members follow official instructions within the House. These appointments help the government to present its agenda more effectively in the House and give an organized response to opposition attacks. The Chief Whip gets the status of Cabinet and the Deputy Whip and Whip get the status of Minister of State.
