The protest by ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar has entered its 35th day today. A delegation of CJP is likely to meet Union ministers in Delhi today at 12:30 pm. Earlier, on July 20, Union Minister JP Nadda had met CJP spokespersons.
Subsequently, the government yesterday said that it had invited the CJP four times for talks, but he did not turn up. At the same time, CJP had said that he will not go to Nadda’s residence for talks and will insist on meeting at a neutral place. However, Sonam Wangchuk, who was on hunger strike for 26 days, ended her fast on the 27th day. CJP founder Abhijit Deepke has said that the agitation at Jantar Mantar will continue until Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns.
In view of the protests, 17 metro stations including Rajiv Chowk and Lok Kalyan Marg were closed in Central Delhi today. A CJP spokesperson said they were not concerned about the cabinet’s decision on the paper leak and intended to continue their protest. Late on Thursday night, PM Modi released a video saying that the Cabinet will soon take a decision on the exam paper issue. Late night the protesters also broke the barricades on Sansad Marg. CJP has also announced nationwide protests today.
