Panchkula, July 13 (IANS). Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini on Monday launched the state-wide cleanliness campaign from the market located in Sector-20, Panchkula. On this occasion, he himself gave the message of cleanliness to the people by sweeping and collecting garbage. During the programme, the Chief Minister also planted saplings under the ‘One Tree in the Name of Mother’ campaign and called for planting more and more trees for environmental protection.
Speaking to reporters, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that he has pledged that wherever he goes, at least 100 saplings will be planted. The entire world is feeling the effects of climate change and large-scale felling of trees in the last few years has had a serious impact on the environment. In such a situation, every citizen should make tree plantation a mass movement so that the coming generations can get a clean and safe environment.
Regarding the cleanliness campaign, the Chief Minister said that after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for Swachh Bharat, there has been widespread awareness among people about cleanliness across the country.
He said that cleanliness is not only the responsibility of the government but the duty of every citizen. If all people take a pledge to keep their houses, neighborhoods and public places clean, then the state and the country can be made clean.
The Chief Minister informed that a special cleanliness campaign will be run in Haryana from 13 to 17 August. Under this campaign, programs related to cleanliness, public awareness and environmental protection will be organized in all the districts of the state.
He said that state government ministers, MPs and MLAs will lead the campaign in their respective areas and motivate the general public for active participation in it.
During this, the Chief Minister also gave information about the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Haryana. He said that the Prime Minister will come to Jind on July 17, where he will flag off the country’s ambitious hydrogen train project. Along with this, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of many important development projects. The Chief Minister said that these projects will give a new impetus to the development of Haryana and will further strengthen the infrastructure of the state.
Public representatives, administrative officials, representatives of social organizations and a large number of local citizens participated in the program and took a pledge for cleanliness and environment protection.
