Chennai, May 23 (IANS). The case of kidnapping and murder of a 10-year-old girl in Coimbatore has become a topic of discussion in Tamil Nadu. There is anger among the people after the death of the girl in the entire state. Politics has also intensified in this matter. Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has issued a statement expressing grief over the incident in Coimbatore.
Chief Minister Vijay wrote on social media: “The brutal incident that happened to a 10-year-old girl in Coimbatore yesterday has brought deep sorrow and shock. Such inhuman and unforgivable criminal acts can never be accepted in our society. I express my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the girl, who are grief-stricken over the loss of their beloved child.”
The Chief Minister wrote, “Two accused related to this case have been arrested. I have directed the police to take all necessary steps to conduct a thorough and prompt investigation and file a chargesheet in the case immediately. The Government of Tamil Nadu is determined to bring to justice the strictest punishment under the law to those involved in such heinous acts against women and children. All immediate and necessary action will be taken in this regard.”
Earlier, Backward Class Welfare Minister V. Sampathkumar met the family of the 10-year-old girl at Coimbatore ESI Hospital and expressed his condolences. The minister said that as soon as he received information about the girl’s murder, he consulted the concerned authorities. It is unfortunate that this incident happened even before a formal complaint was filed. He said that the police took prompt action in this case and immediately arrested the culprits. The investigation in the case will be expedited and he has urged the authorities to file the chargesheet immediately.
It is noteworthy that a 10-year-old girl had gone missing in Coimbatore two days ago. The girl’s body was found near Kannampalayam tank in Sulur area on Friday evening. The girl’s uncle Palanisamy told that his family is a resident of Kolathur. Information was received at night that the girl had gone missing two days ago in the evening after returning from a shop. After reaching here it was found that she had been kidnapped and murdered. Two accused named Mohan and Karthik have been arrested.
