New Delhi, June 6 (IANS). Ahead of the proposed meeting of the India Block on June 8, the Left party CPI (M) has written a letter to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge expressing displeasure over the allegations made during the Kerala Assembly elections.

Party General Secretary MA Baby said that these allegations raise questions on the unity and purpose of India Bloc, hence the Congress leadership should clarify the position in this matter.

MA Baby wrote in the letter that he got information about the India Block meeting on June 8 through Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal. In this context, he referred to the campaign run by the Congress during the Kerala Assembly elections, in which allegations of alleged compromise between CPI (M) and BJP were made.

He said that during the election campaign, Congress leaders repeatedly alleged that there was some secret agreement between CPI(M) and BJP. Not only this, the then Chief Minister and CPI(M) Politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan was also accused of compromising with the Prime Minister. Congress leaders had raised the question as to why the Enforcement Directorate (ED) did not interrogate or arrest Pinarayi Vijayan.

The letter said that these allegations were not general statements made at the time of elections, but were the main basis of the entire election campaign of the Congress. Top Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge repeated these allegations time and again.

MA Baby reminded that India Bloc was formed for the political fight against BJP and CPI(M) has contributed sincerely in strengthening this platform since the 2023 Patna meeting. In such a situation, calling CPI(M) an ally of BJP is very serious and unacceptable.

He also said that hundreds of CPI(M) workers have made sacrifices in the struggle against the RSS-BJP in Kerala. There have been no communal riots in the state in the last 10 years of Left Democratic Front (LDF) rule, which is a testament to the party’s secular commitment.

However, at the end of the letter CPI(M) clarified that it will continue the joint struggle against the central government with the India Bloc and other opposition parties within the Parliament.
