New Delhi, January 7 (IANS). Delhi Home Minister Ashish Sood termed the incident of stone pelting that took place during removal of encroachment near Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque located at Turkman Gate in Delhi as extremely unfortunate. He said that some commercial establishments had come up illegally around the mosque, against which action was being taken as per the orders of the court. It is completely wrong to stop or obstruct this action which is being taken within the ambit of law.
The Minister said that in protest against this action, some criminal and mischievous elements demonstrated and violence, which is not acceptable at all. The people involved in the incident have been identified and action is being taken against them as per law. So far, five people have been arrested in this case.
Ashish Sood clarified that Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque is completely safe. Action is being taken only on those illegal business establishments which come under the purview of the court order. Its purpose is only to implement the orders of the court, and not to take any arbitrary action against any person or religion.
The minister appealed to all citizens not to fall prey to any kind of provocation. Strict action will be taken against those who take law into their own hands due to provocation. He also urged the common people to cooperate with the administration and help in identifying such mischievous elements.
Ashish Sood said that the aim of the administration is to maintain peace and mutual harmony. Any kind of violence or anarchy is not only against the law but also creates instability in the society. Therefore, all peace-loving people should remain united and do not pay attention to any provocation or rumour.
He also stressed that the Delhi government and police are fully alert and there is no lack of security in the mosque and the surrounding area. The action is limited only to removal of illegal encroachment and enforcement of court orders.
