Delhi’s Education Minister on Tuesday accused former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of making ‘false and misleading statements’ regarding the deployment of government school teachers for census of stray dogs and demanded a public apology from him.
In a letter to Kejriwal, minister Ashish Sood said, ‘You have publicly alleged that teachers are being assigned duties related to counting of stray dogs. These claims are not only false, but also amount to a serious distortion of facts. He said that the government circular in this regard is already public. There is currently no immediate reaction from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on this matter.
Citing Kejriwal’s administrative experience, the minister said, ‘Given your background in administration and being a former Chief Minister of Delhi, your statements cannot be construed as mere misunderstanding.’
The circular said that instead these comments appear to be ‘part of a deliberate attempt to derail the smooth implementation of this important security initiative’.
Taking a dig at AAP, the Education Minister said that they are doing ‘blame and run away’ politics, where sensation is spread without any basis and then responsibility is shirked.
The minister said, ‘This style of politics creates unnecessary turmoil, undermines public confidence and hinders governance.’
Demanding accountability, the minister urged Kejriwal to ‘publicly apologize to the people of Delhi for spreading misinformation’.
