Lucknow, May 24 (IANS). Uttar Pradesh Energy and Urban Development Minister A.K. Sharma has targeted the opposition and some people regarding the electricity system in the state. He said that some people are deliberately trying to defame Uttar Pradesh, whereas the reality is that the state has the best level of access and supply of electricity.
Minister A.K. Sharma posted on social media platform ‘X’ and wrote that the peak demand of electricity in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday night was 30,395 MW. Earlier, when electricity reached only five villages, no one felt it was a problem. Now when every village and every street in the entire state is getting electricity 18 to 24 hours a day, then pictures like ‘light failure’ and ‘electricity crisis’ are being created due to small interruptions. This is an insult to the state and electricity employees.”
AK Sharma clarified the situation with figures. He said that about 58,000 gram panchayats and about 3 lakh villages and hamlets in 75 districts of the state are connected to electricity. Also, uninterrupted power supply is continuing in 762 urban local bodies, which include 17 Municipal Corporations, 200 Municipal Councils and 545 Nagar Panchayats.
The minister admitted that there were problems in some villages and some localities of four-five cities but they had been rectified two days ago. He said that he remains in touch with all 503 MLAs and MLCs and their suggestions are being worked upon. Recently the suggestions of five people have been accepted with respect.
AK Sharma described the scorching heat and increased electricity demand as a challenge. He said that sometimes some problems arise due to local technical, natural or human reasons, which are being rectified immediately. He appealed to the public for patience and cooperation.
