Environment Minister is misleading the public on the issue of Aravalli: Congress alleges

Congress on Wednesday again targeted the Modi government on the issue of Aravalli and asked why it is adamant on carrying forward the change which has such huge flaws in the definition of this mountain range. Party general secretary Jairam Ramesh alleged that Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav was misleading people on this subject.

Former Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh posted on ‘X’ quoting a news, “It is now absolutely clear that the Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change is not telling the complete truth on the Aravalli issue and is misleading the public.”

He said, “The change in the definition of Aravali by the Modi government has been clearly and vehemently opposed by the Forest Survey of India, the Central Privileges Committee constituted by the Supreme Court and the Amicus Curiae of the Supreme Court.” He asked why the Modi government is still adamant on carrying forward the change in the definition of Aravalli which has such huge flaws?

Bhupendra Yadav on Monday accused the Congress of spreading ‘misinformation’ and ‘lies’ on the issue of new definition of Aravali, saying that only 0.19 per cent of the mountain range can be legally mined. Yadav had also said in the press conference that the Narendra Modi government is ‘fully committed’ to the protection and restoration of Aravali.
