Amidst the ongoing rebellion in Trinamool Congress (TMC), senior party leader and MP Kalyan Banerjee has launched a scathing attack on the MPs showing rebellious attitude. He said that if any MP has decided to leave the party, he should resign not only from the party but also from his parliamentary seat. Banerjee said Sukhendu Shekhar Roy – who has resigned from the Rajya Sabha – has at least shown political morality, but MPs who work against the party by colluding with leaders of opposition parties should also resign from their posts on moral grounds.
Meanwhile, Kirti Azad, who was present at the press conference, said, “Those who want to leave Trinamool should leave, but they should not take the name of Trinamool. This party was formed by the struggle of Mamata Banerjee; it is not inherited. Remember, an injured lioness is much more dangerous. Its effect will soon be seen in the politics of Bengal and the country.”
According to reports, a group of angry TMC MPs is going to meet Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla today. According to sources, this group may demand recognition of Kakoli Ghosh as the party leader in the Lok Sabha in place of Abhishek Banerjee. Kakoli Ghosh, former Chief Whip of TMC in the Lok Sabha, has claimed the support of about 20 MPs. These angry MPs have formed a separate faction and expressed their desire to join the NDA; He has also sent a letter signed by 20 MPs in this regard to the Lok Sabha Speaker.
There are reports that former cricketer Yusuf Pathan is also a part of this angry group, although he has not given any statement on this issue. If the claims of the angry group prove to be true, it will be a major blow to the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC. Now all eyes are on the decision of the Lok Sabha Speaker and the next steps of the party leadership.
Apart from this, an important meeting of angry MPs was held at the Delhi residence of TMC MP Shatabdi Roy on Monday night. A total of eight MPs – including Bapi Halder, Abu Tahir Khan, Asit Kumar Mal, Khalidur Rehman and Sharmila Sarkar – were present at the meeting. Meanwhile, Suvendu Adhikari also reached Shatabdi Roy’s residence. The special thing is that this was the officer’s second meeting with angry MPs in a single day. The series of meetings between angry MPs and BJP leaders has created a stir in Bengal politics. Amid growing anger in TMC, these MPs are demanding recognition as a separate faction in the Lok Sabha and a change in the party leadership. As a result, for Mamata Banerjee, this crisis is becoming a test not only of organizational stability but also of the party’s survival and parliamentary strength.
