Follow the ideals of Syama Prasad Mukherjee to serve India: Tripura Chief Minister

Agartala, July 4 (IANS). Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday called upon the people to follow the ideals and principles of Bharat Kesari Syama Prasad Mukherjee and dedicate themselves to nation building and public service.

Chief Minister Saha described Mukherjee as a great patriot, eminent educationist, distinguished parliamentarian and visionary politician. He said that his life and thoughts will continue to inspire generations to work selflessly for the country.

Saha was addressing a seminar organized to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Syama Prasad Mukherjee in Agartala.

The Chief Minister said that many great leaders sacrificed their lives for the country, but for years people were not given adequate information about their contributions.

He said that today Prime Minister Narendra Modi constantly emphasizes the importance of youth and believes that they are the biggest strength of the country. Keeping in mind the interests of the students, they have launched several initiatives including ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ program so that they can face the examinations with confidence. The Prime Minister encourages the youth to dream big because only dreamers can achieve great achievements. Today’s students are the future of both our state and nation.

The Chief Minister said that Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was an extraordinary personality, who became the Vice Chancellor of Calcutta University at the age of just 33. With this he became the youngest person to hold this prestigious post.

He said that he was a worthy son of Sir Ashutosh Mukherjee. Though he could have chosen a comfortable life, he dedicated his life to the service of the nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi often says that his biggest strength is the youth of the country, especially the youth in the age group of 18 to 35 or 40 years.

Saha said that with the support and participation of the youth, the Prime Minister is taking the country forward.

He said that Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay were great personalities whose ideals guide us even today. Every program of our party starts by paying tribute to Bharat Mata, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay because they showed us the path to dedicate our lives in the service of the nation.

Saha said that India’s cultural heritage is rich, vibrant and inexhaustible, and every possible effort should be made to preserve and strengthen it for future generations.
