Congress on Saturday strongly criticized Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri over the increase in prices of LPG cylinders. It is noteworthy that the prices of domestic LPG cylinders have been increased from Saturday, March 7.
Let us inform that the price of 14.2 kg domestic cooking gas cylinder has been increased by Rs 60 across the country, and the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has also been increased by Rs 115.
On this, Pawan Kheda, Chairman of Media and Publicity Department of Congress, Pawan Kheda wrote on Twitter, “Yesterday, Hardeep Singh Puri had said: ‘Our priority is to ensure availability of affordable and sustainable fuel for our citizens, and we are doing it very well.’ Today, domestic LPG prices have been increased by Rs 60 and commercial cylinder prices by Rs 115. Don’t believe anything Hardeep Singh Puri says.”
Khera’s comment came in response to Union Minister Hardeep Puri’s statement in which he had said that there is no energy shortage in India and there is no need for energy consumers to worry amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
“Our priority is to ensure availability of affordable and sustainable fuel to our citizens, and we are doing it very well. There is no energy shortage in India, and our energy consumers have nothing to worry,” the Union minister posted on Friday.
Meanwhile, according to sources, the price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi has increased from Rs 853 to Rs 913. The new rate of domestic LPG cylinder in Mumbai has increased from Rs 852.50 to Rs 912.50.
In Kolkata, the price has increased by Rs 30 from Rs 879, while in Chennai it has increased from Rs 868.50 to Rs 928.50. The revised rates will be applicable with immediate effect from today.
This increase also applies to LPG cylinders for commercial use. The price of 19 kg commercial cylinder in Delhi has increased from Rs 1768.50 to Rs 1883.
In Mumbai this price has increased from Rs 1720.50 to Rs 1835. Similarly, in Kolkata this price has increased from Rs 1875.50 to Rs 1990, while in Chennai it has increased from Rs 1929 to Rs 2043.50.
Earlier, the price of domestic LPG cylinder was unchanged from April 2025, when the non-subsidized rate in Delhi was Rs 853. The latest amendment has significantly increased prices for domestic consumers as well as commercial users who depend on LPG for daily operations.
