Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday pledged to end Trinamool Congress’s “injustice” against the Gorkha community and promised to withdraw cases registered against those involved in the Gorkhaland movement.
Amit Shah also assured that the BJP will bring a “solution” to resolve the long-pending demands of the Gorkhas.
Addressing a rally in Darjeeling, Amit Shah said, ‘Mamata Didi has tried to suppress Gorkha history. Now the time has come to end the injustice being done against Gorkhas. Darjeeling will have to teach a lesson to Congress, Communists and Mamata. They have painted our hills with blood, but I say, under the leadership of Narendra Modi ji, we will end this injustice.
He further said, “There are hundreds of false cases registered against our Gorkha brothers. We will withdraw all the cases before July 31. They have suppressed the Gorkha movement. We will ensure that the cases are withdrawn. We will also bring a solution so that you do not have to protest.”
The Gorkhaland movement is a long-standing demand for a separate state within India, raised by the people of the Darjeeling Hills and the Indian Gorkha ethnic origin living in the northern part of West Bengal.
Attacking Mamata Banerjee, Amit Shah said, “Now the time has come to say goodbye to Mamata Didi in the name of Tata. This election is to free Bengal from the crimes of TMC. This time the whole of Bengal has decided that the time has come to remove Didi. This election is to provide security to our mothers and sisters. We will ensure that every rapist is put behind the bars.”
The upcoming elections are being held after the 2021 elections, in which TMC had won a landslide victory on 213 seats. However, BJP’s rise from being a minor party to winning 77 seats in the last election cycle has become the basis of the exciting contest of the present time. Assembly elections in West Bengal will be held in two phases on April 23 and 29 and the results will be declared on May 4.
