Amravati, June 3 (IANS). On the occasion of International Yoga Day, a grand yoga program will be organized in Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh, on June 21. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Wednesday that more than 25 thousand people will do yoga together in a special program organized on the Western Bypass Road of Krishna River.
The Chief Minister said that the state government will run ‘Yoga Andhra 2026’ campaign across Andhra Pradesh from June 7 to June 20. This year the government aims to connect 1 crore people of the state with yoga activities.
CM Naidu said that Yoga should not be just a one day event but should become a daily habit of every household. To build a healthy Andhra Pradesh, it is necessary to make Yoga a mass movement. With this thinking, work is being done to include Yoga in educational institutions also so that the coming generation can become physically and mentally strong.
Describing Yoga as an invaluable gift given by India to the world, the Chief Minister said that Yoga is one of the most effective ways to deal with stress, anxiety and lifestyle related diseases. Yoga is a perfect medium for physical fitness, mental peace and spiritual development.
CM Naidu also mentioned the success of ‘Yoga Andhra 2025’ organized last year. He said that the program organized in Visakhapatnam in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi had received recognition at the national and international level. The event has garnered two Guinness World Records, 21 World Book of Records and Scotch Awards. About 2.44 crore people registered in that campaign, while 1.91 crore participants were given certificates. Yoga programs were organized at 1.33 lakh places across the state and 1.53 lakh trainers contributed in it.
This time a different theme has been decided for each district. Special yoga programs will be organized for policemen in NTR district and farmers in Konaseema district. Apart from all the district headquarters, yoga sessions will also be held at 56 major tourist places of the state, which will promote yoga tourism. Historical and religious places like Undavalli Caves and Srisailam will also be the center of these events.
The Chief Minister said that Yoga has been given a special place in the ‘Golden Andhra 2047’ vision. The government aims to produce 10 lakh certified yoga practitioners, develop a network of 2.5 lakh yoga instructors and motivate 1 crore people to do regular yoga throughout the year.
To make these schemes successful, the state government has allocated a special budget of Rs 10 crore. To strengthen ‘Yoga Andhra 2026’, the guidance of wellness expert Dr. Manthana Satyanarayana Raju is being taken. Also, more than 168 educational yoga videos have also been prepared.

The Chief Minister has also appealed to social media influencers, TV channels and cable networks to cooperate in this public awareness campaign. During this, the Chief Minister also launched ‘Yoga Andhra’ portal, where registration, information about programs and training material will be available.
