Vadodara/Surat, March 28 (IANS). BJP has started preparations for the upcoming local self government elections in Gujarat. The party’s focus is on strengthening the booth level organization. For this, senior leaders held several zonal meetings on Saturday.
At a meeting of South Zone office bearers in Surat, BJP state president Jagdish Vishwakarma outlined a strategy focusing on creating a ‘strong and well-planned organizational structure’ reaching every booth and every household.
Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. attended the meeting. Patil, State General Secretary Prashant Korat, State Election Management Committee Convenor Gordhan Zadafia along with district and city-level office bearers and party leaders from across the zone.
According to party leaders, Vishwakarma asked workers to ensure that information about public welfare initiatives taken by the BJP-led central and state governments is available. He said that the work done by the representatives elected at the local level should reach every household.
Patil, Korat and Zadafia also addressed the meeting and gave organizational guidance to the party workers. Similar emphasis on grassroot level mobilization was seen in the Central Zone meeting held in Vadodara under the chairmanship of Vishwakarma.
At the Vadodara meeting, Vishwakarma appealed to the workers to maintain constant touch with the public through outreach and travel and to tell about the ‘nation-friendly and public welfare works’ of the government. He described booth-level workers as the party’s “biggest strength” and appealed for micro-planning at every booth to ensure a “strong and robust organizational structure” ahead of the elections.
Zadafiya also addressed the meeting, and spoke in detail on various aspects of election management. Both the meetings were part of the party’s larger effort to coordinate its organizational strategy in the areas ahead of the local body elections.
