Ranchi, July 7 (IANS). A delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar demanding a CBI investigation into Jamshedpur’s famous Himanshu Singh murder case. The delegation demanded to ensure fair and transparent investigation of the case and strict action against the culprits.
The delegation that reached Lok Bhavan under the leadership of BJP State President Aditya Sahu included Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, State Vice President Bhanu Pratap Shahi, State Minister Shailendra Singh, State Spokesperson Abhay Singh, District President Sanjeev Sinha, Arvind Singh, father of deceased Himanshu Singh and others.
In a memorandum submitted to the Governor, BJP alleged that Himanshu Singh was murdered in the presence of police in Adityapur area of Jamshedpur on June 27, which has raised serious questions on the law and order and police system of the state. The party alleges that the role of the police and the investigation process in the case has not been impartial.
In the memorandum, BJP claimed that the role of the policemen present at the time of the incident was not properly investigated and efforts were being made to divert the matter from the basic facts. The party alleged that the police were taking the investigation in another direction to hide their failure. It has also been alleged in the memorandum that DD Bar operator Neeraj Singh has been implicated in the case due to political malice.
The party says that Neeraj Singh was not present at the spot at the time of the incident and his establishment was being operated under a valid license. Questions have also been raised in the memorandum on the action taken against him.
BJP urged the Governor to conduct a CBI inquiry into the matter, so that a fair investigation can be conducted into the incident and if negligence on the part of the police or other officials is found at any level, then action can be taken against them.
The party claimed that the victim’s family and local people have also demanded a CBI inquiry, expressing distrust in the current investigation process. BJP said that investigation by an independent agency is necessary to provide justice to Himanshu Singh’s family and to bring out the truth of the entire incident.
