If Sanatan Dharma is to be saved then demographic change will have to be stopped: Former DGP Vaid

सनातन धर्म को बचाना है तो जनसांख्यिकीय बदलाव को रोकना होगा : पूर्व डीजीपी वैद

Jammu, July 9 (IANS). Former Jammu and Kashmir DGP SP Vaid has said that if India wants to save its culture, then it is very important to check the demographic changes. If Sanatan Dharma is to be saved then demographic change will have to be stopped.

Speaking to IANS in Jammu, the former DGP said that this is a very important issue for India. Efforts are being made to change the demography of the country. In most of these cases, foreign funding and external elements play a role. Whether it is about infiltration or Bangladeshi citizens, different estimates are made. According to some, there are 5 crore Bangladeshis in India and according to some, there are 3 crore Bangladeshis. There should be accurate information about where they are, if any.

He said that demographic changes have been seen in some areas of border states like West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Bihar-Jharkhand. Some activities are also being conducted with foreign funding. For this reason, to ensure transparency in foreign funding, the Home Ministry has made arrangements to know where the money came from, for what purpose it was spent and who is its end user.

The former DGP said the government has constituted a commission, which is headed by a retired Supreme Court judge. The commission also has a retired IAS officer and a retired IPS officer as members. I believe that this Commission should seriously study if any demographic change has taken place, where and to what extent it has taken place. The areas where it is suspected should be studied in detail.

Referring to Jammu and Kashmir, the former DGP said that there is a strong sentiment especially regarding the Jammu region. I don’t have any study reports I can cite. But, from the changes seen in the last 30-40 years, it appears that attempts have been made to bring about demographic changes in the Jammu region in an artificial manner. An attempt has been made to change the basic character of Jammu region. People have been settled here illegally. There are Rohingyas among them, some Bangladeshis too and other types of changes have also been seen.

On the statement of CM Omar Abdullah, the former DGP said that I think Omar Abdullah’s statement is good and should be welcomed. India has only one demand from Pakistan that it should stop terrorism. Thousands of Indians have died due to Pakistan sponsored terrorism. There have been many terrorist attacks like Mumbai attack, Parliament attack, serial blasts in Delhi and Mumbai. India says that terrorism will stop only then other issues can be moved forward. We are saying that we will give water only then stop terrorism first.

Referring to PoJK, he said that the people of PoJK are fed up with the excesses of Pakistan Army. Instead of listening to their reasonable demands, they are responded to with bullets. Many people were killed and injured. Even in Balochistan, people are kidnapped at night and women who raise questions peacefully are also mistreated.

Meanwhile, referring to Iran, he said that Iran had assured that the Strait of Hormuz would remain open for 60 days after the signing of the MoU, but after that three tankers were attacked by the IRGC. When Iran itself had said that movement would remain normal for 60 days and after that a new arrangement would be made, such incidents worsen the situation. After this America also retaliated. In such a situation I feel that the situation will get worse instead of better.
