New Delhi, July 9 (IANS). India and Germany are working together in the field of renewable energy, so that the environment can be made more sustainable and better. German Ambassador to India Philipp Ackermann said that this cooperation between the two countries will become stronger in the coming times.
Speaking to IANS, Ackermann said, “This is a very good collaboration between India and Germany, where both the countries are trying to create a better and sustainable environment by bringing together their thinking, expertise and experience. This also includes clean energy and we are actively working with India in this area. This relationship between India and Germany will deepen in the coming years.”
On the importance of greater participation of women in the energy sector, he said that there is a need to think more on this issue. “We should pay more attention to this and this is a good time to think about it. We should pay more attention to bringing women forward in our plans and discussions, because the energy transition process cannot be successful without women,” she said.
The Ambassador also stressed the need to diversify energy sources for both India and Germany in view of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. He said that it is not right to depend too much on any one sector for energy security.
He said, “We have seen the worrying developments that have taken place in the Middle East in the last few hours. We hope that a solution will be found through dialogue and diplomacy. People should return to the negotiating table again and find a way out without violence. This is very important for both India and Germany, but it also shows that we have to pay attention to our energy security, because it is not right to be completely dependent on any one region.”
He also said that the situation should return to normal soon through diplomatic efforts so that the Strait of Hormuz remains open. According to him, in the current situation it has become more important than ever to pay attention to energy security.
Ackerman said, “What is happening in the Gulf region makes it clear that countries like India and Germany, which have limited natural resources, will have to think about how to meet their energy needs so that they are less dependent on foreign fossil fuels and other fuels. We have to sit and discuss this issue with India.”
