Priyanka Gandhi wrote on social media platform X that the news of the martyrdom of five brave soldiers in the Air Force plane crash in Assam is very sad. May God grant peace to the departed souls. My deepest condolences are with their families. He further said that the country will always be indebted to our brave soldiers and their families.

At least five Indian Air Force personnel were killed when an AN-32 transport plane crashed and caught fire while landing at Jorhat Air Force base in Assam on Saturday. The aircraft caught fire soon after landing, prompting emergency action by the Air Force and airport fire teams.
An AN-32 aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed during a routine flight in Jorhat, Assam at around 10:00 am today, Indian Air Force Headquarters said in a statement. Accident site management and preliminary investigation is ongoing. The Indian Air Force has requested everyone not to make any speculations until the preliminary results are out.
Defense officials later said that five people lost their lives in the incident. The identities of the deceased have not yet been officially released. More information regarding the cause of the accident is awaited.
According to the Indian Air Force, the incident occurred after the plane landed at Jorhat Air Force Station around 10 am. Condoling the tragedy, the Indian Air Force said that the Indian Air Force deeply regrets the loss of lives and property and stands strongly with the bereaved families in this hour of grief.
A detailed investigation is expected to be ordered to find out the cause of the accident. Technical experts and Air Force officials are inspecting the crash site while the preliminary investigation is underway.
The Soviet-origin An-32 twin-engine tactical transport aircraft has been a key aircraft of the Indian Air Force for decades, particularly in the difficult terrain and high altitude areas of the North-East and the Himalayan border areas.
