Hyderabad, April 3 (IANS). Alleging that the Congress party has failed to fulfill the election promises made in Telangana, Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy has appealed to the people of Kerala not to believe in the ‘false promises’ of this party in the assembly elections.

In an open letter to the people of Kerala, Kishan Reddy explained about the six guarantees and other promises given by the Congress party in Telangana.

Kishan Reddy, BJP MP from Telangana, wrote, “The Telangana experience teaches an important lesson. Promises made during elections may sound good, but without proper planning and financial discipline, they remain just promises.”

Referring to newspaper advertisements given by the Congress party in Kerala in which it claimed to fulfill promises in Telangana, he appealed to the people not to be misled by such advertisements.

He wrote that before trusting such assurances, it is important to look carefully at what has happened in states where similar promises were made in the past.

He said, “Kerala deserves a governance that delivers development, financial stability and honest governance, and not just promises made during elections. Kerala, which is called ‘God’s own country’, should not allow these ‘political tourists’, who have already cheated the people in other places with half-baked promises, to repeat the same here.”

He requested the people of Kerala to look at the facts carefully and take a wise and thoughtful decision for the future of the state.

He claimed that the NDA under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the only alternative that has stood with the people of Kerala and fulfilled its promises made to the state; He appealed to the people to give the BJP-led alliance a chance to serve them.

Kishan Reddy said that on April 1, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s visit to Kerala was full of thoughtless statements which failed to impress the conscious public there.

Kishan Reddy wrote that in his election speeches, he tried to present the Congress government in Telangana as one that would fulfill the promises made in its manifesto, and tried to show that it had the unwavering support of the people of Telangana.

The Union Minister said that the Congress Party came to power in Telangana on the basis of six guarantees and more than 420 promises to farmers, women, youth and the poor.

He alleged that the guarantees given by Congress are completely false.

The BJP leader said farmers were promised Rs 15,000 per acre every year, and a financial assistance of Rs 12,000 was also promised to farm laborers, but even after several crop seasons have passed, no farmer has received this help.

He said the promises of increasing the minimum support price (MSP) for 10 crops and giving a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal for paddy have not been fulfilled yet.

Waiver of farmers’ loans was another big promise. He said that about 40 lakh farmers are still waiting for this benefit, because the government is now saying that it does not have enough funds for it.

Kishan Reddy said that women were promised financial assistance of Rs 2,500, 10 grams of gold every month and Rs 1 lakh to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, but no woman has received these benefits.

He further said, “At the same time, the economic condition of Telangana has also deteriorated; the total debt and liabilities of the state have crossed Rs 10 lakh crore. Many big promises were made without any proper economic plan, which has left the state further in debt.”
