Raipur, 8 February (IANS). Union Home Minister Amit Shah said in Raipur on Sunday that the main reason for leftist extremism in the country is Maoist ideology. This destructive ideology has spoiled the lives of three generations of tribals living in many states including Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
The Home Minister said that the Maoist ideology forced innocent tribals to take up arms and created a false narrative that Naxalism had arisen due to ‘lack of development’ and ‘law and order problems’.
He said, “I appeal to those involved in Naxalite activities to surrender before the security forces. I especially appeal to the young tribal women that the BJP government has better plans for their future.”
Home Minister Shah said, “I completely disagree with those who say that the cause of Naxalism is development and law and order. The beginning of Naxalism was a conspiracy based on Maoist ideology, and I have evidence to prove this. If it was a problem of development, the situation in many districts at that time would have been worse than Bastar. If it was a problem of law and order, the condition of law and order in many districts would have been even worse.”
He said people should understand that the Maoist ideology, which has ruined the lives of innocent tribal children by putting guns in their hands, demolished schools and hindered development in the last four decades, is ‘the path to destruction’.
He also talked about the strong relationship between neighboring states Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh and said that both the states are progressing together and stand by each other like brothers.
Let us inform that since January 2024, more than 500 Naxalites have been killed in encounters in Chhattisgarh, including senior leaders like CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Nambala Keshav Rao alias Basavaraju. Meanwhile, around 1,900 Naxalites were arrested in the state and more than 2,500 surrendered.
The special thing is that Madhya Pradesh, which was affected by Naxalism for almost four decades, has been declared Naxal free much before the deadline of March 31, 2026.
