Bhopal, June 8 (IANS). Mahesh Kewat, the third candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the Rajya Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh, filed his nomination papers on Monday. With this, the nomination process for three Rajya Sabha seats has been completed. Claiming victory on all three seats, BJP has expressed full confidence in the success of its candidates.

Voting is to be held on June 18 for three vacant seats of Rajya Sabha in Madhya Pradesh. A total of four candidates are in the fray in this election. Setrun Chugh, Rajneesh Aggarwal and Mahesh Kewat are candidates from BJP, while Congress has made Meenakshi Natarajan its candidate.

Before filing nomination, Mahesh Kewat offered prayers at the temple located at the BJP state office and garlanded the statues of the party’s founding leaders Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay and Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. During this, many senior leaders of the party including BJP’s regional organization general secretary Ajay Jamwal were present.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said after the nomination that BJP has fielded its candidates on all the three vacant seats of Rajya Sabha and all three candidates of the party will be victorious. He said that Lord Shri Ram had given the message of social harmony by honoring Nishadraj and taking forward the same tradition, BJP has made Mahesh Kewat the Rajya Sabha candidate.

Meanwhile, BJP state president Hemant Khandelwal said that the party is contesting the elections with full strength and confidence. He claimed that BJP has enough numerical strength to win the Rajya Sabha elections and victory of all three candidates is assured.

Expressing gratitude to the party leadership, Rajya Sabha candidate Mahesh Kevat said that making an ordinary worker a Rajya Sabha candidate reflects the worker-based work culture of BJP. He said that he will try his best to live up to the trust that the party has reposed in him and fulfill the expectations of the society. The political activities of the state have now intensified regarding the Rajya Sabha elections.
