Maharashtra: Waris Pathan clarified on Sahar Shaikh’s Mumbra statement, said- trying to give communal color is wrong

महाराष्ट्र : वारिस पठान ने सहर शेख के मुंब्रा बयान पर दी सफाई, कहा- सांप्रदायिक रंग देने की कोशिश गलत

Mumbai, January 21 (IANS). All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) national spokesperson Waris Pathan on Wednesday clarified on the Mumbra controversy and said that youth councilor Sahar Sheikh has made her statement clear.

Waris Pathan said that our young candidate Sahar has already clarified what she had said. Why are some people trying to give a communal color to his statement? Our party is progressing in Mumbra, we have won five corporator seats this time, which is a big achievement. Even the senior leaders who once held sway in the area could not do anything, yet the public supported us with votes and prayers.

Waris Pathan linked Sahar’s statement of ‘defeating Mumbra’ to the party’s green flag and development. Sahar Shaikh had clarified that if their flag had been orange or saffron, she would have promoted the same. The statement came after AIMIM’s massive victory in the Thane Municipal Corporation elections, where the party won 5-6 seats in Mumbra. The opposition created controversy by calling it ‘communal’, but AIMIM called it a symbol of political development.

Waris Pathan took a dig at the alliance of MNS and Shiv Sena in Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC). He said, “Look how things change. They were fighting each other like it was a war, and now, for the sake of greed for power and authority, they are supporting each other. Now their real face is coming out in front of the public. What happens between them is their internal matter; what can I do about it?”

This comment is on recent political developments, where MNS and Shiv Sena (probably different factions) cooperated at the local level. Pathan linked this to the greed for power and said that this is showing the real face of the public.

Waris Pathan rejected Congress leader Digvijay Singh’s allegation of doing politics of religion on AIMIM. He said, “This is absolutely not true. Our 125 corporators who have won include people from all communities. We got votes from everyone and our corporators have been elected with huge public support.”

He claimed that in the local elections in Maharashtra, AIMIM won 125 corporators, including Hindus, Muslims and people from other communities. He called it the result of inclusive politics and alleged that the opposition was unable to tolerate the success of AIMIM.
