Mamta Banerjee's big attack on BJP regarding Chandigarh blast, said - 'Explosions are happening at our doorstep...'

On Wednesday (April 1, 2026), there was a massive explosion outside the BJP office in Sector 37, Chandigarh, which shook the entire area. According to Chandigarh Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kanwardeep Kaur, it is suspected that country-made bombs or raw materials were used in the blast. Taking a dig at this incident, Trinamool Congress (TMC) said that those who cannot keep their own place safe are the ones who give lectures on the security of Bengal. TMC said, “This is the ground reality of BJP’s law and order situation. Even their own party office is not safe. Bombs are bursting at their doorstep, and they are not even able to save themselves.”

TMC surrounded Amit Shah

Taking aim at Amit Shah, TMC said, “Whenever even a small firecracker is burst somewhere in Bengal, you immediately send the NIA and cry 24 hours about the law and order situation deteriorating. But when there is a massive explosion right outside your own BJP office, why do you suddenly become silent? Home Minister Amit Shah, where is your NIA now? This completely exposes your hypocrisy and double standards. Your ‘double-engine’ government cannot keep its own backyard safe, yet you lecture Bengal on security?” The sound of the explosion outside the BJP office was heard far away, causing panic among the local people and passers-by. Senior Superintendent of Police Kanwardeep Kaur told the media that at around 5:00 pm, the police had received information that a loud bang-like sound was heard outside the BJP office.

NIA team reached the spot

SSP Kaur said, “My team and I immediately reached the spot. In the initial investigation it seems that some crude bomb or raw material might have been thrown here. NIA and FSL teams have also reached the spot and started their investigation.” As soon as the information was received, policemen, fire department employees and senior officers immediately reached the spot. The scene was immediately sealed, and an investigation was launched to determine the cause and nature of the blast. CCTV footage of nearby areas is also being examined to identify any suspicious activity before or after the incident.
