Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed full confidence of BJP’s victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections and launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress, saying, “May 4 is the end date of this rule of TMC alliance and jungle law.”
Addressing an election rally in Mathurapur, Prime Minister Modi said that accountability for all wrongdoings will be fixed after the assembly election results are declared on May 4.
He said that a wave of change is going on in Bengal and the entire country is watching the way “the women of Bengal and the youth of Bengal have opened a front against TMC in today’s first phase of voting”.
Prime Minister Modi said the huge turnout in Bengal is a sign that “fear is losing and faith is certain to win”. “Exactly 10 days later, when the counting of votes is completed, I am confident that lotus flowers will bloom everywhere,” he said.
He urged people, including first-time voters, to “root out and oust the ‘ruthless’ government of Bengal”.
He said, “I can see a wave of change led by women, because women are the biggest victims of this insensitive government. Incidents like RG Kar and Sandeshkhali show that TMC is giving protection to rapists and goons. The way our mothers and daughters have been harassed, women will never forget.”
He further said, “The anti-women face of TMC and all these parties has once again come to the fore shamelessly. You all have seen what happened in Parliament a few days ago. The BJP government had come to Parliament with a proposal to give 33 percent reservation to women from the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, but TMC voted against it. TMC has snatched away the rights of the women of Bengal.”
Opposition parties have said that they fully support women’s reservation, but have opposed the way the government has linked the women’s quota bill to delimitation.
In his speech, PM Modi said that BJP’s resolve is to make the Bhanga fair of Mathurapur a matter of pride for the Swachh Bharat Mission.
He said, “We will provide digital skills to the artisans of this fair, provide them with safety equipment and convert the fair ground into an organized market centre. The ruthless government of Bengal is only obsessed with its own interests; it does not care about your happiness and sorrow.”
He further said, “The whole world knows the heritage of Bengal and the strength of Bengal. But TMC has cast a spell on this strength and has established its dominance here. No work is done here without corruption. TMC asks for commission in every work! People of the TMC gang are sitting everywhere. The 15-year rule of this gang is about to end now, and that date is May 4. After May 4, accountability will be fixed for every act of loot.”
Prime Minister Modi said that once the BJP government is formed in Bengal, the focus will be on the problems of fishermen.
He said, “Our effort will be to ensure that the fishermen here are not limited to just the local markets, but their fish reaches big markets and even go outside the country. Under the BJP government, the seas will be safe and will become a source of prosperity for Bengal. The Ministry of Fisheries at the Center has been established by the BJP government itself. We are promoting the blue economy and linking farmers with fishermen through credit cards. In its manifesto, the BJP has planned to develop Bengal as a fish export hub. This will also increase the income of every family here.
In West Bengal, till 3.30 pm today, more than 77 percent voting was recorded in 152 seats in the first phase of voting. Voting for the remaining seats will be held on April 29 and the results will be declared on May 4.
