Modi government's "illegal actions" exposed, "propaganda" demolished: Congress

The Congress on Tuesday termed the court’s refusal to take cognizance of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) charge sheet in the money laundering case against Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and five others in the ‘National Herald’ case as a victory for truth and said the “illegal actions of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government have been exposed and the propaganda has been demolished”.

A Delhi court refused to take cognizance of the ED’s charge sheet in the money laundering case against Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and five others in the ‘National Herald’ case.

Senior Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi wrote on ‘X’, “Great victory in the National Herald case. The judge did not even find this case worthy of cognizance. The strangest case till date in which there was no exchange of money at all, not an inch of change in immovable property, yet ED says that there has been huge money laundering.”

He said that despite all this, BJP is making a lot of noise over alleged money laundering.

Singhvi said that exaggerating anything, doing a lot of propaganda and having no truth has become the identity of the present government.

Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinet said in a statement, “Today the truth has won. The vendetta politics and illegal actions taken by the Modi government against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for the last 10 years have been completely exposed today.”

He said, “The court’s decision is that the ED case is without jurisdiction, it has no FIR without which no case can be made out. The Modi government has taken action against the Congress for a decade out of political vendetta and revenge, which has been exposed today in front of the entire country.”

Supriya said there was no case of money laundering, no proceeds of crime and no transfer of assets, but the “foot magnets” of the BJP and Modi government made all these base allegations and allegations out of malice to tarnish the image of top Congress leaders. He said that this propaganda has fallen flat.

Supriya said, “The Congress party fights with truth and courage and today again we were proved right.” The Enforcement Directorate said it would file an appeal against the court order.

Special Judge Vishal Gogane said that the chargesheet filed in the case is based on the investigation conducted on the complaint of a private person and not on the FIR related to any original crime. He said that taking cognizance of this is not acceptable under the law.
