Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi criticized the Center on Saturday after the Trump administration imposed an annual fee of US $ 100,000 for H-1B visas and said that the move would affect India’s “most talented minds”. At the same time, Priyank Kharge said that Modi Trump’s friendship is proving harmful to India.
Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gogoi said that his “strategic silence and vigor have become a burden for the nation.
While sharing an X post, the Congress MP wrote, “The recent decision on the H1-B visa has attacked the future of India’s best and talented people.”
She wrote, “I still remember the courage of former PM Manmohan Singh when an IFS female diplomat was insulted in America. Now PM Modi’s strategic silence and vigorous appearance has become an obligation for the national interest of India and his citizens.”
Congress leader Pawan Kheda repeated Rahul Gandhi’s “weak Prime Minister” comment.
Kheda wrote on X, “After eight years, Rahul Gandhi has once again proved to be correct. He said the same in 2017, and nothing has changed since then. India is still stuck with a weak Prime Minister.”
In Karnataka, Congress MLA Priyank Kharge also took a sarcasm at PM Modi and said that the H-1B visa fee-increasing executive order is “friend of Modi ji”.
Kharge wrote, “Modi-Donald Trump’s friendship is proving to be very expensive for India. Modi ji’s best friend has signed an executive order levying an annual fee of US $ 100,000 on H-1B visa. This step will affect Indian technical workers the most, as more than 70 percent H-1B visas are found by Indians.”
Priyank Kharge said, “This 50 percent tariff, hire act, the removal of the Chabahar port ban exemption and even the European Union came after his call to impose 100 percent tariff on Indian goods. Thank you Modiji.”
The Congress’s strict criticism came after the US President released a new President’s announcement on Friday (local time) titled “Ban on Entry of Non-Deed Entry”, which brings a big change in the H-1B visa program, which has imposed an annual fee of US $ 100,000 on H-1B visa applications, which raises new questions whether it is a very important improvement or a serious shock to the technical talent pipelines of America.
This fee will be effective from September 21. This announcement is one of the most aggressive efforts of the Trump administration so far for radical changes in the H-1B visa program. This step is likely to affect Indians looking for jobs in technology and IT sector in the US.
