Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday held a road show in Patna after several rallies in Arrah and Nawada. He was also accompanied by BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal and Union Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan. It is noteworthy that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was not seen in this road show.
Prime Minister Modi also paid floral tributes to the statue of famous Hindi poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister addressed an election rally in Nawada and praised the NDA’s poll promise of providing Rs 3,000 to farmers in Bihar apart from the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, saying, ‘Those whom no one asks, Modi worships.’
Taking a dig at the opposition, Prime Minister Modi claimed that previous governments did not give priority to small farmers.
He said, “Post-independence governments did not give priority to small farmers. But this is Modi, ‘whom no one asks, Modi worships’. In the last 11 years, our government has brought small farmers to the center of agricultural policy.”
He claimed that the government has provided Rs 650 crore to 2 lakh farmers of Nawada.
He said, “We opened bank accounts for farmers and they get PM Kisan Samman Nidhi amount in those bank accounts. Poor farmers have got Rs 20,000 crore. Rs 650 crore has been deposited in the accounts of 2 lakh farmers in Nawada.”
The Prime Minister invoked former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and hit out at the RJD-Congress-led Grand Alliance, accusing it of corruption under “Jungle Raj”.
He said, “This amount reaches the accounts of farmers without any deduction, commission or corruption. If there was ‘Jungle Raj’, they would have filled their pockets. The Congress Prime Minister had once said, ‘If Re 1 is sent from Delhi, only 15 paise reaches the villages.’ Which was this ‘Panja’ that converted Re 1 into 15 paise?”
Prime Minister Modi said, “According to the NDA manifesto, farmers and cattle herders will get double the gift. They will get Rs 6,000 under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and Bihar NDA has announced to give Rs 3,000 in addition to this.”
Meanwhile, voting will be held in Nawada under the second phase on November 11. The first phase of voting will take place on November 6 and the results will be declared on November 14.
