Mumbai Crime Branch’s big action, 11 drugs smugglers arrested

Mumbai, 27 September (IANS). The anti -narcotics cell (ANC) of the Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested 11 drugs smugglers while taking major action in various areas of the city. In this operation, drugs worth Rs 2 crore 4 lakh were recovered, including 198 grams of Mefedron (MD/Myau Meu), 6.233 kg of hemp, 346 grams of heroin and 3,460 intoxicating tablets.

This action was taken in areas like Dharavi, Bandra, Bhaiyakhala, Govandi, Goregaon, Malvani, Borivali and Mahim.

Azad Maidan, Bandra, Kandivali, Worli and Ghatkopar units of ANC jointly carried out the operation.

The recovered drugs include 3,460 tablets of controlled drugs such as nitrosepam, alprozolm and traumadol.

The purpose of this action of the Mumbai Police is to make the city intoxicated free and to curb illegal smuggling of narcotics.

Azad Maidan unit busted illegal sale of MD in Dharavi area. In this raid, two people were arrested and 140 grams of Mefedron worth Rs 42 lakh were recovered from them.

Bandra Unit seized 849 grams of hemp (worth Rs 21,225) and 15 grams of heroin (Rs 6 lakh) from two persons in different raids. The Worli Unit detained a person by recovering 1.182 kg of cannabis (Rs 59,100) in Bhaiyakhala area. At the same time, 310 grams of heroin (Rs 1.24 crore) was seized from Mahim area.

The Ghatkopar unit recovered 3,460 drugs worth more than Rs 10.4 lakh from Govandi area.

In the raids conducted in Goregaon East, Borivali West and Malad west, 58 grams of Mefedron, 21 grams of heroin and 4.202 kg of hemp were seized.

ANC has registered a case against all 11 accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act, including a woman.

A senior official of the Mumbai Crime Branch said that the action is part of the campaign to prevent illegal trade of drugs. ANC is constantly monitoring such activities and is committed to making the city intoxicated.
