Patna, July 10 (IANS). Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) declared Neeraj Kumar Sinha as its official candidate for the by-election to be held on Bankipur assembly seat of Bihar. His elder brother Amarendra Kumar has expressed happiness on this.
Speaking to IANS, he said, “I am very happy and grateful to BJP national president Nitin Naveen. Neeraj Kumar Sinha was working with him for almost 25 years. He took my younger brother to this position and appreciated his hard work.”
Neeraj Kumar Sinha’s sister-in-law also expressed happiness and said, “We are both happy and shocked to hear this news. It feels very good. He has struggled a lot and now he has got the fruits of his hard work. He has been working with Nitin Naveen for a long time.”
Abhishek Kumar Sinha alias Bunty was made a candidate in this by-election, but he withdrew his nomination citing family reasons. After this, the name of Neeraj Kumar Sinha was announced in the press release issued by BJP’s national general secretary and headquarters in-charge Arun Singh.
This time BJP has expressed confidence in a grassroots worker instead of any big or famous face. Neeraj Kumar Sinha has been associated with the party organization for a long time and has held many important responsibilities. He has been the Mandal President twice and is currently the President of Narendra Bharti Mandal. Party leaders say that he has been made the candidate considering his long experience in the organization, ground hold and strong relations with the workers.
According to party sources, Neeraj Kumar Sinha’s family has been associated with Bharatiya Jan Sangh and BJP for a long time. His grandfather was an active worker of Jan Sangh and played an important role in strengthening the organization in the region. Narendra Bharti Mandal has also been named in his honour, the responsibility of which is currently being handled by Neeraj Kumar Sinha.
Bankipur assembly seat had become vacant after former BJP MLA Nitin Naveen was elected as Rajya Sabha member. The by-election on this seat is being considered one of the most talked about political battles of Bihar.
