New Delhi, July 16 (IANS). Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal attacked the central government over paper leak and alleged irregularities in the examination system. From the platform of ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ movement organized at Jantar Mantar, he said that there is a need to improve the education system and examination system of the country, because the confidence of the youth is weakening due to continuous paper leaks.
Kejriwal saluted the youth involved in the movement and Sonam Wangchuk, who is on hunger strike demanding education reforms, saying that he is not fighting for himself but for the future of the youth and students of the country. A student appearing in any competitive examination does not just go to take the examination, but also reaches the examination center with the hope of fulfilling his dreams.
He said that students appear for exams with the belief that their future will be decided on the basis of their hard work and talent, but continuous paper leaks are weakening this confidence. He himself has studied from IIT and his children have also given competitive examinations, but at that time there were no cases of paper leaks. Today’s situation is worrying. This is affecting the morale of the youth of the country.
Kejriwal said that question papers of many important examinations have been leaked in the last few years. He alleged that every time there is talk of investigation, FIR and arrests, but later the accused come out on bail and such cases come to light again next year. He claimed that many students committed suicide after the NEET controversy, but the government did not take any concrete steps to comprehensively reform the examination system.
Kejriwal said that the government should listen to the voice of the youth and take effective steps to reform the examination system. Referring to the Anna Hazare movement of 2011, he said that the government of that time had also ignored public sentiments and was later voted out of power. If the government does not take seriously the demands of the youth and issues related to the education system, it may have to face political consequences.
In his address, Kejriwal demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and said that revolutionary thinking is needed to change the education system. He suggested that a person like Sonam Wangchuk should be given the responsibility for education reforms.
