On record tenure, Prime Minister Modi said, 'Public service is the biggest test of good governance'

New Delhi, June 10 (IANS). Narendra Modi has become the Prime Minister who has served the longest continuous tenure in India. On this special occasion, PM Modi said that public service is the biggest test of good governance.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote a post on the social media platform ‘X’ on Wednesday, in which he said, “Public service is the biggest test of good governance. Only a person who works continuously with humility, dedication and duty earns public trust.”

Along with this, PM Modi has also shared a ‘Sanskriti Subhashitam’, in which it is written, “Sadaanuraktprakrutih prajapalanattparh. Vineetatma hi nripatirabhuyasi sriyamashnute.”

‘Sanskriti Subhashitam’ means, “The one who considers public representative service as his religion and continuously works in the public interest, ensures the safety and welfare of the public through good governance, remains dedicated to the progress of the society by keeping development as its goal with humility and restraint, only he actually achieves public trust, fame and prosperity.”

It is noteworthy that this is Narendra Modi’s third consecutive term as Prime Minister. Along with this, he has created the record for the longest tenure as Prime Minister by holding the post of Prime Minister for 4,399 days. Earlier, this achievement was recorded in the name of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Nehru’s tenure starting in 1952 is considered the basis, as he was the head of the interim government between 1947 and 1952, before the country’s first general elections.

Although former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi remained in office for more than 14 years, her tenure was not continuous. Because of this, PM Modi has become the elected Prime Minister who has served the longest continuously in the history of the country. He held the post of Prime Minister from taking oath for the first time in 2014 to securing the mandate for the second consecutive time in 2019 and historically for the third consecutive time in 2024.

At present, PM Modi is receiving congratulations and best wishes from home and abroad on becoming the country’s longest serving elected Prime Minister.
