Agartala, February 9 (IANS). Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday said peace and inclusive development in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) is possible only under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rule as the state government is continuously working for the socio-economic development of every citizen.
CM Saha, addressing the organizational meeting of the BJP at the TTAADC headquarters in Khumulwang, said that the state is witnessing increasing competition among political parties to retain or regain power, and stressed the need for a strong BJP-led government in the Tribal Autonomous Council in the upcoming elections. Crucial elections for the 30-member TTAADC are expected to be held in March-April.
Saha said, “I am encouraged to see the active participation of mothers and sisters in today’s meeting. It is clear from this meeting what the future of TTAADC will be under the leadership of BJP.”
He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing about a change in the political culture of the country by emphasizing transparency and accountability in governance. Referring to PM Modi’s commitment towards corruption-free governance, CM Saha said that a positive and development-oriented environment has been created in the entire country and Tripura under the rule of BJP and NDA.
The Chief Minister criticized the previous governments, alleging that they misled the people and allowed extremism to flourish, resulting in stalled development in many areas.
“Development is not possible without peace. BJP has helped in restoring peace and stability by bringing misguided elements into the mainstream. Since coming to power, our government has given top priority to development,” he said.
Saha said that the contradictory claims regarding government formation reflect political confusion. He said that illegal encroachments in urban areas have been removed in public interest and despite attempts by some groups to mislead the public, the government is considering rehabilitation measures for the affected people.
Issuing a stern warning, the Chief Minister said that many illegal activities are going on in TTAADC without legal approval. Pointing out irregularities in the formation of village committees and political misinformation being spread regarding the proposed Bishramganj Nagar Panchayat, he said that these activities have already been exposed.
Saha said, “Negative politics will not benefit the public. The BJP is committed to give priority to development in TTAADC while ensuring transparency, law and order and peace. We must resolve to form a BJP-led government in TTAADC.”
