New Delhi, December 30 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed grief over the bus accident in Almora, Uttarakhand and expressed grief over the loss of life and property. Officials said that on Tuesday morning, a bus carrying about 18 passengers went out of control and fell into a deep gorge on the Bhikhiyasain-Vinayak road in Almora district of Uttarakhand, killing 6 people.

Earlier, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had also expressed deep grief over the accident. He said in X Post, “Extremely sad news has been received about the accident of a bus going from Bhikiyasain to Ramnagar in Almora district on the Bhikiyasain-Vinayak motor road, in which there are reports of casualties among the passengers. This incident is extremely painful and heart-wrenching. I pray to God to grant peace to the souls of the deceased and give strength to the bereaved family members to bear this immense sorrow.”

He further said, “The passengers injured in the accident are being immediately admitted to nearby hospitals by the district administration. The seriously injured have been referred to higher medical centers for better treatment. This entire episode is being continuously monitored and I am in constant touch with the local administrative officials. I pray to God for the speedy recovery of all the injured.”

According to official sources, the accident occurred near Shilapani on Bhikhiyasain-Vinayak-Jalali motor road. The bus was going from Bhikhiyasain to Ramnagar and had left Dwarahat at around 6 in the morning. On the way, the bus reportedly lost control and fell into a deep gorge. Officials confirmed that six passengers were declared dead at the scene. It is believed that around 18 people were traveling in the bus at the time of the accident. Many passengers have been injured and have been admitted to the government hospital near Bhikiyasain for treatment.

After receiving information about the accident, teams of police, district administration and State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) reached the spot. The rescue operation is still underway, and officials fear that some passengers may still be trapped inside the vehicle. Senior officials of the district have also reached the spot to oversee the rescue work. Officials said that the driver and conductor of the bus are safe and their condition is stable.
